My experience in web development course as a Beginner

My experience in web development course as a Beginner

  • Published by Sandesh Bikram Bista on july 10|2025

Before I joined a web development course, I genuinely had no leads how websites were made. I used websites every day shopping online, reading blogs, watching videos but I never stopped to think about what was going on behind the scenes.

Previously, I was just chatting with one of my seniors and he mentioned he was learning HTML and CSS. I was like, “Wait you can make your own websites?” That kind of blew my mind. Later that night, I randomly searched on YouTube, watched some web development videos and even though I didn’t understand much something about it made me curious. I felt like Okay maybe I can try this.

So yeah, I ended up enrolling in a proper web development course. Honestly Best decision I’ve made this year.

Why I Decided to Learn Web Development?

Let me be real the world is moving online faster than ever. Everything is digital. Every shop, business, school, even personal brands they all need websites. And the cool part Someone has to build those websites. That’s what caught my attention.

Also, I didn’t have any fancy programming background. I just knew basic stuff like how to use a computer and Google things. But I learned that web development doesn’t need you to be a genius or a coder from childhood. You just need to start somewhere. That gave me hope.

I’ve always wanted to create something of my own something that works and looks good. Studying to build websites touched like the perfect starting point.

What I Studying in the Course?

My course started from absolute basics, which was great because I was a total newbie. No pressure, no coding experience needed — just pure step-by-step learning.

1. HTML and CSS – My First Building Blocks

We started with HTML. It felt a bit boring at first like just writing random tags but slowly it began to make sense. I learned how to add headings, paragraphs, links, images and even forms. It was like creating the skeleton of a website.

Then we added CSS to make things look good. Colors, fonts, spacing, borders, animations CSS made everything come alive. I spent hours just playing with layouts and testing different color combos. It was so fun that I didn’t even feel like I was studying.

2. JavaScript – The Part That Took Time but Was Worth It

Next came JavaScript. Now this part was tough at first. I didn’t get why we needed variables or what functions were supposed to do. But once we started building things with it like a to do list a calculator or a quiz game it all started to click.

One moment that made me feel really proud was when I created a form that gave error messages when filled wrong. It felt like I was building something real that could be used on an actual website.

3. Bootstrap and jQuery Speeding Things Up

At one point, we were introduced to Bootstrap. It’s a framework that gives you ready made design stuff buttons, cards and navigation bars. It saved me so much time. I could make a whole webpage layout in 15 minutes. jQuery was also handy it made JavaScript easier for small tasks like animations and click events.

4. Git and GitHub – Learning to Save My Work Like Pro

We also learned how to use Git and GitHub. I didn’t know anything about version control before this, but now I understand how to track my code, fix mistakes and upload my projects online. My GitHub profile actually looks nice now with all my mini projects.

5. A Little Taste of React

We didn’t go too deep into React, but we did enough to get a feel for how modern apps are made. I built a basic weather app and a counter component. It felt different from regular JavaScript but interesting in a new way. I’m planning to learn more about it after this course.

6. Backend Stuff – Node.js and MongoDB

Finally, we moved to backend development. Using Node.js and MongoDB, I made a simple login and signup system. I could actually save user data and display it — and that just blew my mind. I never thought I’d be able to make something like that.

Some of the Projects I Built

I didn’t just follow along with lessons. I also created small projects on my own to test what I learned. These are some of the things I built during the course:

  • My Personal Portfolio: It has my photo, skills, projects and contact form.
  • To-Do List App: You can add, remove and mark tasks as done.
  • Simple Blog Page: I designed a blog layout with dummy content.
  • E-commerce Product Grid: A gallery of products with filter buttons.
  • Signup/Login Page: With validations and form submissions stored in MongoDB.

Working on these made me feel more confident every single day. Seeing something go from a blank screen to a full webpage is just the best feeling.

What I Didn’t Expect?

One thing that surprised me was how web development teaches patience. There were so many times where I couldn’t figure out why my layout was broken or my button wouldn’t work. I’d spend hours debugging, Google errors and testing random fixes. But when it finally worked the joy was next level.

I also learned to think more logically. Like, I actually plan things now before jumping into them. And I’m way more organized with my code and folders than I used to be.

Where I’m Headed Next?

Now that I’ve got the basics, I’m planning to keep practicing and maybe start freelancing small projects. I also want to build a personal blog from scratch and post articles about tech and coding stuff.

Eventually, I want to learn full React.js and maybe get into Next.js too. Backend is still new for me, but I know I’ll get better with time.

Final Words

I started with zero experience got confused a hundred times messed up a bunch of code but now, I can build actual websites. This course gave me a solid foundation, real skills and a lot more confidence.

Also, I want to thank my shekhawati classes instructor for explaining things clearly and giving real life examples that made learning easier. He believed in me even when I had no clue what I was doing.

And now here I am writing this blog, proud of what I’ve learned and excited for what’s next.
